CBD Study Shows Nearly 70% Have Better Sleep
The U.S. National Library of Medicine published a recent study showing those taking CBD experienced better sleep and lowered anxiety levels.
There were 72 participants in the study, all of whom stated having problems with sleep and anxiety. Each individual was given 25 to 50 mg of CBD each day for a three-month course. Each study participant was also given a number of tests for assessing their results of CBD for sleep and CBD for anxiety regularly during the entire study duration.
The results were highly positive in that nearly 80% of the 72 individuals taking CBD showed reduced levels of anxiety that remained reduced throughout the whole study's duration. What’s more, nearly 70% of the individuals showed enhanced sleep within their initial month of being provided with CBD.
What is CBD?
CBD stands for cannabidiol, and is one of many cannabinoids found in the hemp plant naturally. While CBD infused oil and other CBD products have only recently made their appearance in the broader public, these products have gained popularity quickly as plant-based medications for individuals experiencing various health problems, including:
- Stress
- Sleep issues
- Inflammation
- Anxiety
- Migraine headaches
There's even been success with cannabidiol and sleep disorders treatment.
Since ancient times, the cannabis plant has been used for its industrial and medicinal benefits. The two main species are cannabis indica and cannabis sativa. There are over 80 different compounds (cannabinoids) in the cannabis plant.
Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the most abundant compound, and is known for its intoxicating, psychoactive properties. CBD isn't psychoactive, and is the second-most abundant. Various strains of the cannabis plant are grown with different amounts of CBD and THC. Hemp plants are grown with high levels of CBD you can extract and make into an oil. Industrial hemp needs to have less than 0.3% THC in it for it to be legal, and this is the plant in which CBD-infused oil is extracted from.
Since the 2018 Farm Bill passage, most individuals who were once restricted from purchasing CBD oil can now purchase it online, and have it shipped anywhere in the U.S. It's become so trendy as a wellness and health aid, many doctors are now recommending it regularly to their patients.
